Phuntsho Wangdi, the Chief Prosecutor and Head of the Prosecution & Litigation Division of the Office of the Attorney General has been appointed as the New Attorney General by His Majesty the King on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, as per Article (2) section (19) (j) and Article (29) section (2) of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Bhutan.
The Royal Order was issued on 11 March 2010 and conferred to the New Attorney General on 15th March 2010.
Phuntsho Wangdi graduated from Sherubtse College with a degree in English Honours in 1995 and had initially commenced his career as a judicial officer at the High Court of Bhutan after completing the Diploma of National Laws from Royal Institute of Management, Thimphu Bhutan. He was transferred to Office of the Attorney General (erstwhile Office of the Legal Affairs) after he completed his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Mumbai in the year 2000. Since then he has been working in the present office. In the year 2005, after completing Master of Laws, he was appointed as the Head of the Prosecution & Litigation Division and since then he had been prosecuting many cases.
