On March 7, 2024, His Majesty the king appointed Mr. Sonam Tashi as the new Attorney General. Dasho Sonam Tashi (BA.LLB/LLM) began his service in the year 2004 as a legal Affairs (OLA). Throughout his distinguished career spanning over two decades, he held important positions including heading the Drafting and Review Division, Prosecution and Litigation Division , and Property and Judgement Enforcement Division among others. He also served as the officiating Deputy Attorney General for the Department of Justice and the Department of Legal Service, since it’s inception, overseeing overall functions of the specific Divisions under it. Prior to his appointment as the Attorney General, Dasho served as the officiating Attorney General.
