The building housing the Office of the Attorney General was consecrated and blessed by His Venerable Gyaltsho Lopen Kuenga on 26 January 2016. The consecration ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lyonpo Damcho Dorji. Other guests for this event included Ex-Attorney Generals and former members of this Office.
The construction of the office was completed in 2015 and is one of the first buildings to be built under the ‘green building’ concept. The project was generously funded by the Government of India, under the project tied assistance for the 10th Five Year Plan. The ‘green building’ concept primarily aims to achieve energy efficiency through natural light, to minimize environmental impact by preserving the existing vegetation in its natural state, to maximize the collection and use of rain water for landscape irrigation and to have a natural ventilation system based on termite mounds.
